#A tryst with 'Them '#

Let me share a real life unworldly experience in Itachuna Rajbari (about 100 Kms from Kolkata).

It took almost 4 hours to reach Itachuna Rajbari, courtesy some goof up on my behalf. Tired & exhausted, when finally  I checked in to my room in afternoon, the AC was running in full swing.

After lunch, there was a short tour around the house. This was followed by evening puja & some excellent songs played by a local flute player. All in all a cool experience.

Then came the dinner. The food was excellent - a unique combination of prawn, mutton, pulao, couple of veg dish , followed by payas & sweets. Definitely better than any 5 star.

After dinner when I went back to my room at night, the AC wasn't working. I called in at the reception & they sent a person to look into the AC. However it still didn't work & we decided to put off the AC switch & open the windows ( well the window is actually bigger than any door in our current apartment), but I agreed reluctantly. Then I slept.

And then the fun started. Suddenly I woke up in the middle of the night feeling extremely cold. I was surprised to see the AC working again. I got down from bed to switch off the AC ( I didn't have any remote), but hey the switch is already off. I couldn't fathom what to do, didn't know how to turn off the AC & cursed my luck , the AC , the rajbari management (silently) & went back to sleep with a rug.

But then I discovered something else is missing. It's my side pillow !!! I clearly remembered having it when going to sleep but it's not there. I started looking for it & there it is , under my bed . Well, with the mosquito net on, I must have kicked it extremely hard for it to be there!!! Feeling sleepy & refusing to believe anything nonsense I went back to bed & fell asleep.

No further incident at night . Only when I woke up in the morning, the pillow was agains missing & now it is lying in front of the sofa.

Btw, I didn't have a single drop of alcohol last night. So I was even more perplexed. When the service boy came to provide me the morning tea & biscuits, I asked him about the incident. Initially he was reluctant to entertain my qs. But then after handing a 10 Rupee note, he said that 'These things' happen here. But 'They' are harmless. Then he asked whether I heard anything , I said no . Then the guy mentioned that at night people have often heard  noises of some one moving furnitures . I asked but it's only the roof on top of my roon. Then the guy stated that 'They' roam in the roof at night, that's why the noise.

The entire episode was perplexing. My logical mind refusing to acknowledge the co-existence of 'Them' , but then who did play football with my pillow in the room at night? That's still something which my logical mind failed to answer .
